Five-story brick and limestone town house at 133 East 62nd Street, Manhattan, which has been acquired by the Girls Clubs of America, Inc., federation of girls' clubs in the United States and Canada, for its national headquarters. Built in 1885, the house was given an ornate limestone trim in 1900 by Robert McAllister Lloyd, pioneer electrical engineer, then owner. Girls Clubs of America, Inc., founded in 1945 in Springfield, Mass., and located in New York City for seven years, has until now occupied rented quarters. Mrs. John V. Lindsay, wife of the Mayor of the City of New York, accompanied members of GCA's national board on their first visit, as owners, to their first permanent home.
