University Place Presbyterian Church, University Place at S.E. corner of 10th Street, organized and erected in 1845 by a colony from the Duane Street church. In 1870 the Mercer Street church sold its building and merged with this congregation.
Thirteen months after the date of this picture this church will be demolished; and a 12-story apartment building called Devonshire House will be erected on the site. 47 University Place, the little parish house adjoining the church, will also be demolished.
28 and 34 East 10th Street, the 11-and 10-story loft buildings adjoining the church, and sandwiching old 32 East 10th Street between them, were erected not long before 1910.
