(1) York Avenue (Avenue A) at N.E. corner of 68th Street, showing "The Central", an apartment house built in 1902, and about to be demolished. Prior to about 1895 this block was occupied by Jones Woods Coliseum, known in its last few years as Empire City Coliseum. The name York Avenue was officially adopted late in 1928. February 13, 1928. P. L. Sperr. (2) York Avenue at N.E. corner of 68th Street, seen from the southwest and showing the other corners. The new New York Hospital and Cornell Medical College buildings, nearing completion, occupy the land east of York Avenue from 68th to 70th Streets. On the S.W. corner, adjoining the tennis courts in the foreground, the Seidenberg factory has been demolished. June 30, 1931. P. L. Sperr.
