East River, at Battery Park (left), showing the shore and skyline of Lower Manhattan. In the center is the U.S. Barge Office, adjoining the Battery Landing Platform (left) which is a Hudson River dock. Across the Barge Office is the tower of the Produce Exchange Building, on the east side of Whitehall Street, from Stone to Beaver Streets. To the right of the latter is the U.S. Army Building (still standing in 1937). Also shown across the wooded Battery Park is the Washington Building and, directly behind it, the Bowling Green Building. About 1897. A. Loeffler.
