Manhattan: Broadway - Stone Street

Broadway, east side, from Stone to Beaver Street's, showing the distinctive building of the New York Produce Exchange, as photographed across Manhattan's first park, Bowling Green. At the right is the row of residences that became "Steamship Row" and was later replaced with the U. S. Custom House. Above their roofs appears the 8 story Kemble Bldg. on Whitehall Street (continuation of Broadway) from Stone to Bridge Street's. To the left is an eastward perspective on Beaver Street, to include the incomplete New York Cotton Exchange Bldg. (erected 1883-5). Beyond this is the vague buttress of the Manhattan side of the Brooklyn Bridge. The photographers vantage point is the Washington Bldg. at No. 1 Broadway.
