Manhattan: 5th Avenue - 23rd Street (West)

(1) Fifth Ave., at the N.W. corner of West 23rd Street, showing two identical views of the Fifth Avenue Hotel. The hotel was opened in 1859, and became New York's foremost hostelry; having been visited by distinguished guests, such as the Prince of Wales, numerous United States Presidents, Ambassadors, and Emperors. The building was later demolished and on its site was later demolished and on its site was later erected the 14-story Fifth Ave. Building. Prior to 1908. August Loeffler P. L. Sperr Collection.
