Manhattan: Washington Square - University Place

Washington Square Park, central and southwestern quarter, seen from 1 University Place. Children may be seen bathing in the center fountain. The old Hotel Holley, 35-6 Washington Scuare West, is sandwiched in between two new buildings erected around 1930. On the S.W. corner of 4th and Macdougal Streets may be seen the Washington View apartments, erected in the late 1880's. The Judson Memorial Baptist Church on the S.W. corner of Thompson Street is not quite all in the picture. The tower adjoining it is part of the same building; it was formerly the Judson Hotel, but is now a New York University dormitory. On the horizon may be seen the North River and the Palisades.
