317-323 E. 34th Street, (Harriet Hubbard Ayer Building), north side, between First and Second Avenues, showing a general view northwestward from this location. In the foreground are, St. Gabriels Park, the 2nd Ave. "E" and various tenements. The photographer utilizes the changing 42nd Street outline for a background. Note the construction stage of the Chrysler and News Buildings. Of earlier birth than these is the Chanin Building as shown to the left. A close inspection of the two later views will disclose the erection details attending the building of the Hotel Waldorf-Astoria on Lexington and Park Avenues.
