Manhattan: 4th Avenue - 22nd Street (East)

Fourth Avenue Presbyterian Church, Fourth Avenue at N.W. corner of 22nd Street. This church was built in 1856 and demolished around 1912 for the construction of the Mills & Gibb building. On the S.W. corner of 23rd Street is the Y. M. C. A. Building, built in 1869 and demolished before 1906 for the erection of the Mercantile Building. Beyond this, on the N.W. corner, is the Academy of Design, which will soon give way to the Metropolitan Life Building. At the extreme right, the second Madison Square Garden is rapidly nearing completion. Winter 1889-1890. Ewing Galloway.
