Manhattan: 23rd Street (East) - 4th Avenue

East 23rd Street, north side at 4th Avenue. The distinctive structure shown (N.W. corner) is the National Academy of Design. This, and the adjoining brownstone residences will be removed at a later date for the enlargement of the white marble building of the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company. The latter appears partially at the left. About 1895
