Manhattan: 5th Avenue - 34th Street
Fifth Avenue, west side, at W. 34th Street, showing at the S. W. and N. W. corners respectively the Astor and Stewart homes. The former is shortly to be removed for the second half of the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel. The latter is the home of the Manhattan Club at this date. At the left is a portion of the Hotel Waldorf that was opened in 1893. About 1898 Gift of Urbrock Collection South West corner 34th St. and 5th Ave. JJ Astor Res. 34th and 5th Ave. On this site stood the Astoria Hotel the second half of the Waldorf-Astoria, and now the Empire State Bldg. stands here.
