Queens: Vernon Boulevard - 43rd Road

Vernon Boulevard, west side, at 43rd Road, showing the Bodine Castle, modeled after a French castle. It was erected by J. Bodine, a French nobleman who was exiled from his native land. An underground tunnel can be seen leading into the house from the East River waterfront. Bodine's name first appears on Beers's 1873 map of Long Island City. P.L. Sperr June 24, 1932 Views 1,2
