Hospitals - Bellevue Hospital - [Old wards and Chapel.]

Bellevue Hospital: The old wards (1811-1855) and Chapel (1888) surrounded by the modern units. These border on the east side of First Avenue, at the foot of 27th Street. They were demolished in 1938. A modern administration building is under construction here in 1940. At the left of View 1 is the wing containing the Mortuary. This is at 29th Street. Note the row of tenements above, that were demolished and replaced with the modern Psychiatric Division. On the right of View 2 is the Out Patient Department building at 26th Street, erected 1925.
