Manhattan: 34th Street - East River Drive

E. 34th Street, at the East River, showing the locale of the old Borden Avenue (Greenpoint) Ferry. This service, discontinued for several years, was in its last stages restricted to vehicular traffic. The photographer is viewing generally northward from the dock at 33rd Street and shows the New York Steam Co. plant and the Department of Sanitation dock (35th Street), for a background; the tenements are on the north side of 34th Street and extend to First Avenue.
