Queens: Main Street - Northern Boulevard

Main Street (foreground), at the S.E. corner of Northern Boulevard, showing the Fountain House. In 1830 Benj. P. Lowerre, later Charles P. Lowerre, and in 1873 the C.P. Lowerre Estate owned this tavern. Eugene L. Armbruster states that Jacob F. Haubell was long the owner of this tavern. He lived at 136 Broadway and never lived in the Fountain House. His pater operated, built, and owned the Washington Hotel in 1855. The building in this view does not appear in the Queens Atlas of 1926. Eugene L. Armbruster Collection. 1922.
