Manhattan: West Street - Charles Lane
West Street, center and East Side, North from Charles Lane, (South of Perry Street and Pier 47, North River). This view was taken three years before the building of the Canal and 23rd Street section of the West Side Elevated Highway. The date is in the latter part of the Coolidge era and about a week before Charles A. Lindbergh, Jr's non-stop flight to Paris. Enoch Morgan's Son's Sapolio Factory mat be seen at #433-#441 West Street, adjoining and at the South corner of Bank Street. The tall white building beyond it, is the Bell Telephone Laboratories situated at the South corner of Bethune Street. P.L. Sperr, May 12th, 1927
