Islands - Barren Island - Roadway - [Water tower.]

(1) Barren Island, showing Roadway, which with its abutments was cleared to make way for a new park and approach to the Marine Bridge, which (when completed) will connect this section of Brooklyn with Rockaway. Because of the reconstruction involved, the evacuation of some 350 residents became necessary. April 21, 1931. P. L. Sperr. (2) The same, further north, showing a water tower and P.S. No. 120. (The only school ever built on the island). These were demolished in June 1936 with all the other buildings to make way for Marine Park. April 21, 1931. P. L. Sperr.
