Manhattan: 23rd Street (West) - 11th Avenue

W. 23rd Street, north side, east from Thirteenth (left), to Eleventh (right) Avenues, as viewed northeastward from a point at W. 22nd Street near the North (Hudson) River. In the right foreground is a small park with cabs at the westerly side of same, awaiting passengers from the Erie Railroad ferry that docks at this point. The 11 story Zinn Building seen, is at the S.E. corner of Eleventh Avenue and W. 25th Street. To the left margin is a 2 story frame structure that bears a sign identifying it as Godwins Hotel. This is at the N.E. corner of Thirteenth Avenue and W. 23rd Street and was replaced by the 4 story garage shown in the other views. No. 2 is from a similar angle and shows this feature prominently. No. 3 is northwestward from Eleventh Avenue and 22nd Street and has the ferry house at its left margin. Subsequently the West side Express Highway will loop across the park to continue northward on Thirteenth Avenue and thereby follow the westerly edge of Manhattan.
