Manhattan: Mott Street - Pell Street

(1) Mott Street,north from Chatham Square. This view is looking Northward. The three buildings at the left are No's 17-19-and 21 Mott Street and are south of and adjoining the south west corner. The R.C. Church of the Transfiguration founded in 1827 occupies the north west corner. The original church at this location was the Zion Lutheran, which became the Zion Episcopal in 1810. A fire destroyed that edifice in 1815, and was replaced by a new building in 1819. The present congregation purchased the property in 1853. Eugene L. Armbruster Collection, (2) The same.
