Brooklyn: Clinton Street - Montague Street

(1) Clinton Street, at the N. W. corner of Montague Street, showing the Holy Trinity Protestant Episcopal Church. The foundation for this edifice, of which Edgar John Bart was the builder, was begun in August 1844. The chapel opened for services on June 7, 1846, and the church on April 25, 1847. The steeple, which was erected in 1860, was removed in 1906. Two buildings (not in this view) at Nos. 122-124 Pierrepont Street were given to the parish by George Foster Peabody in 1905 and 1912, to be used as a guildhouse and parish house. The rectory was purchased in 1897, and is at No. 126 Pierrepont Street. The church proper cost $175,000; the spire 275 feet in height, cost an additional $65,000. Minard Lefevre was the architect.
