Manhattan: 57th Street (West) - 8th Avenue
355-309 West 57th Street, north side, between Ninth and Eighth Aves. At the extreme left is the new American Women's Association Building. The apartment house at the extreme right replaced the Protestant Episcopal Church of the Strangers. The view is northeastward from clearance (present site of Parc Vendome Apartments) on the south side of the street and between the aforementioned Aves. January 9, 1931. P. L. Sperr. The New York Times of March 13, 1940 reports the sale of a site known as No. 331-45 West 57th Street and 334-446 West 58th Street. Two eight-story apartments will be constructed here constituting a project with frontages of 160 feet on the former thoroughfare and 137 on the latter. This is directly opposite the Parc Vendome Apartments and half a block east of the A. W. A. Bldg.
