Manhattan: 57th Street (West) - 8th Avenue
W. 57th Street (right), west from Eighth Avenue (foreground, not shown) as viewed from atop the Fisk Bldg. between the latter point and Broadway. Shown is a general view of the surrounding west side, area formerly known as San Juan Hill. In the background is the North (Hudson) River and the Jersey Shore. Note that at this date the last 1000 foot pier appears to be near 46th Street. To the right one sees, Roosevelt Hospital, DeWitt Clinton High School and the New York Central Railroad Yards.
