Manhattan: Charles Street - 4th Street

The north side of Charles Street, from 4th to Bleecker Streets, is known as Van Nest Place, (originally Van Ness Place) and has its own house numbers, in order from east to west. See Van Nest Place. Spring, 1933. P. L. Sperr. According to the N.Y. Times, Sunday June 7, 1936 - the nomenclature Van Nest Place will be eliminated; Charles Street incorporating same. These structures will become 59 to 51 Charles Street; No. 53 of which is the Synagogue of the Congregation Darech-Amuno, organized in 1838.
