General View Midtown Manhattan, East 40's: View 1 shows the Chrysler Building and portions of the Chanin (left) and News Buildings, seen across tenements from 38th Street near Second Avenue. View 2 is northeastward from the Empire State Building across the 42nd Street district and on up toward and beyond the Queensboro Bridge and Welfare Island. In the center is the Chrysler Building and proceding it, the lower Chanin Building. To the left is the Rectangular-roofed Lincoln Building. In the left background is the white group of buildings--the New York Hospital. On the right of the view is the borough of Queens. View 3 is east along 42nd Street from near Broadway. The rear of the New York Public Library is in the center.
