Manhattan: Broadway - 34th Street

Broadway, west side, north from and including 34th Street. The brownstone church in the right foreground is the Broadway Tabernacle. The only buildings shown which are familiar to modern eyes are the New York Herald Building, which is shown in the right centre; the Hotel Normandie, in the centre background, which will be demolished in 1928; and the Metropolitan Opera House, in the left background, which will still stand in 1936, with every prospect of surviving for some years to come. Also shown is the Herald Square Theatre, on the N.W. corner of 35th Street, and the Hotel Marlborough, on the west side between 36th and 37th Streets. About 1895. Brown Brothers.
