Manhattan: 5th Avenue - 42nd Street

Fifth Avenue, west side, south from 42nd Street, showing the old reservoir occupying the avenue frontage. Upon this site was erected the present New York Public Library Building. At the left is the spire atop the Brick Presbyterian Church silhouetted against the old Waldrof Astoria Hotel. To the right, at the rear of the reservoir is Bryant Park extending to Sixth Avenue.
