Governors Island: A birds eye view of same as seen from the Bank of Manhattan Building (No. 40 Wall Street) and across that area of lower Manhattan between Coenties Slip (left) and Battery Park (right). In the left foreground appears Brooklyn with its Gowanus Bay. Separating the Island from same is Buttermilk Channel. Surrounding waters constitute New York's Upper Bay. Note in the background the hump like formation of Staten Island and the watery passageway to the Lower Bay.
