Manhattan: 11th Street - Waverly Place

Church of St. John the Evangelist (Protestant Episcopal), at S.W. corner of 11th Street (formerly Hammond Street) and Waverly Place, also showing the southeast corner. This congregation was organized July 26, 1845, and opened its church for services in May, 1856. The church is notable for its garden, the creation of the late Dr. John Armstrong Wade, former pastor, and for the outdoor marriage altar which he brought over from Spain around 1925. August 6, 1932.
