Manhattan: 8th Avenue - 23rd Street
Grand Opera House (originally known as Pike's Opera House), Eighth Avenue at N. W. corner of 23rd Street. In the 1870's, Jay Gould and Colonel James Fisk had executive offices of the Erie Railroad here. This theatre has one of the largest stages in New York. June 1925. The Opera House will be demolished as per "The New York Herald Tribune,"of July 18, 1937, which also includes a historical resume, pertinent to this structure.
