Queens: Jamaica Avenue - 166th Street
Jamaica Ave., (Elevated B.M.T. line thereon), south side, between 166th and 168th Streets, showing in a set of four views the rears of some old homes. At the extreme left partially shown was the Hurst home from 1873 to 1891. It also was at one time the K. Stenupf hotel. A. Duryea occupied the center house in the same period. The house on the right is the Jacob Smith homestead, said to be about One Hundred and Fifty years old. It was purchased by Mrs. Mary Meegan in 1873 and later owned by her daughter, Mrs. Catherine Kammerer. The house was sold in 1924, and demolished in October of the same year. January 1923. Eugene L.
