Manhattan: 57th Street (West) - 11th Avenue

West 57th Street (foreground), at the S.E. corner of Eleventh Ave. (extreme right), showing the ultra modern Sheffield Farms plant under construction and occupying the westerly portion of the 57th to 56th Street. Buildings appearing at the left will shortly be razed to permit expansion to the full 200 x 550 feet proposed. Note the rock cut roadbed of the New York Central Railroad beneath the steel, veering on a diagonal to emerge in the 60th Street yards on the far side of the Ave. July 24, 1937.
