Street Scenes: Political harangue on the New York Public Library Steps in the Roosevelt-Wilkie presidential contest. This speaker is pro-Roosevelt; the Wilkie orator is to the left and not shown. Incidentally, the latter making use of a microphone drew larger crowds. Credit for the adaptation of this technic should be given to the U. S.
