Manhattan: 5th Avenue - 33rd Street

Fifth Avenue, west side, from West 33rd to 34th Streets, showing the demolition of the old Waldorf-Astoria Hotel. Upon this site will rise the towering Empire State Building. 33rd Street is to the left and 34th to the right. Upon the former appears an extensive view westward to Greeley Square with its tall Hotel McAlpin overlooking the subsequently demolished (1939) Sixth Avenue "El" line. The photographers vantage point is a structure at the S.E. corner of Fifth Avenue and 33rd Street and from which he is viewing northward. November 7, 1929 View 1
