Brooklyn: Cranberry Street - Henry Street

Cranberry Street, south side, between Henry and Hicks Streets, viewing west from near Henry Street and showing the Plymouth Church, from which the famous Brooklyn preacher Henry Ward Beecher delivered his sermons. The church was built in 1849 and extends through to Orange Street. The three-story house with the brownstone stoop, to the left of the church, is Henry Ward Beecher's old home and President Abraham Lincoln and General Ulysses S. Grant are said to have visited here. The house is No. 66 Cranberry Street and was remodelled, in 1940, into an apartment house for five families. For additional data see "The New York Times," October 5, 1940. View 1: Eugene L.
