Feast of Saint Anthony of Padua.

(1) Feast of St. Anthony of Padua, 1928, No. 4. The tower, being carried in the procession on 106th Street, moving west towards First Avenue. It takes three to four dozen men to carry it. a severe eight piece band is riding in front, under the statue of St. Anthony. The boys who manage the ropes also ride on the tower. Only the two lower sections of the tower are shown. A bishop, with mitre and crozier, occupies the face of the tower in the section above St. Anthony. September 3, 1928. P. L. Sperr. (2) No. 5. The same, a closer view, taken as the statue arrives alongside 401 East 106th Street, adjoining the corner of First Avenue. The camera is close enough to show how the weight of the tower is distributed onto the shoulders of the bearers. Notice also the man in shirt sleeves and straw hat, riding in front among the musicians; he is evidently rendering or leading a song. September 3, 1928. P. L. Sperr. (3) No. 6. A close rear view of the tower, which is in about the same position as in view No. 5, but has been turned to face north. The bearers are resting, leaning on the heavy cross-poles by which they lift the whole structure. September 3, 1928. P. L. Sperr.
