Islands - Bedloe's Island - [Statue of Liberty - Old Fort Wood.]

Bedloe's Island: The Statue of Liberty, standing on an elevation in the center of an enclosed space made by the double walls of old Fort Wood. Designed by Bartholdi and the gift of France, it was unveiled in New York Harbor, October 1886. The pedestal was designed by Richard Hunt and erected under the supervision of General Stone.
