Manhattan: Gay Street - Waverly Place

(1) Gay Street, north from Waverly Place. Gay Street runs only through the block from Waverly Place (originally West 6th Street) to Christopher Street, but the bend in it near the northern end, makes it impossible to see from one end to the other. Gay Street has been spoken of as the shortest street in New York, but it is not -- even Weehawken Street is shorter; however, it is probably the shortest bent street in Manhattan. September 25, 1928.
