Richmond: New Dorp Lane - Cedar Grove Avenue

(1) New Dorp Lane, at the S.W. corner of Cedar Grove Avenue, showing the Britton Cottage, built before 1695. It stands on land patented to Obadiah Holmes in 1677, transferred in 1695 to Britton. It also passed through the ownerships of Walton, Cubberly and Miss H. Lord. Still later Dr. Nathaniel Britton, the botanist, came into possession of the house, who deeded it to the Staten Island Association of Arts and Sciences in 1915.
