Marble Hill Avenue, adjoining the N.W. corner of West 228th Street. This house was razed between 1916 adn 1925 and stood directly in rear of the apartment house now (1939) bearing No. 157 West 255th Street. The thoroughfare in the foreground is the old Kingsbridge Road which on the Manhattan side of the former Harlem River bed became Marble Hill Avenue. Note the declivity at the rear of the house indicating the creek. On the right are buildings on the Bronx shore; the larger of which is St. Johns Roman Catholic Church. This stands on Kingsbridge Avenue between 230th and 231st Streets. Views 2 and 3 show various details; the privy vault in yard, and a rubber water supply from pump there to a second story.
