Manhattan: 6th Avenue - 48th Street (West)

Sixth Avenue, east side, north from W. 48th Street, showing prominently the excavation for the new Rodkefëler Center Building. This is at the N. E. corner and is to be titled "the U.S. Rubber Co. Building." The enclosure is provided for the public who, as quite obvious, enjoy watching the foundation construction. The publicity agent capitalized on this quirk and had the fence lettered "Sidewalk Superintendents Club". The insignia is titled, "De.beste stuurlin staan an wal", which translated is "The best pilots stand on the shore".
