Manhattan: 9th Avenue - 31st Street (West)
Ninth Avenue, east side, north from West 31st to 33rd St's., showing the Pennsylvania Railroad yards to the rear of the General Post Office. The latter faces on Eighth Avenue. West 33rd Street is on the far side, containing the rears of the Y. M. C. A.'s. Sloan House and the J. C. Penney Bldg. Adjoining the last is the Glad Tidings Assembly. The old Manhattan Opera House and the Hotel New Yorker, both on 34th Street near Eighth Avenue, project above the roof of the latter. In the center background is the dominant McGraw-Hill Bldg. on West 42nd Street.
