Queens: Buhrman's Lane - St. Mark's Avenue

Alley Park: Alley Road, east side, north of Buhrman's Lane, showing the Foster house in 1873. "James Hedger, apparently ran the later Buhrman Mill in 1782 and lived with his sister the Widow Talman in this home on the Alley, opposite the mill. Here he was attacked by a number of soldiers of the 38th and 54th Regiments, then lying at Flushing, and killed. Two were captured, tried at Bedford Long Island and executed." It is doubtful but some state that the first floor was erected in 1663 and the second story added in 1777. "Schmidt 1777" is carved on one of the rafters. This is a set of four views. 1922.
