Manhattan: Madison Avenue - 42nd Street

Madison Avenue, north from 42nd Street. Old building on N.E. corner will be demolished in 1919 to make room for Liggett Drug Building. Manhattan Hotel, on N.W. corner will be remodelled in 1920-21. Tower of old St. Bartholomew's Church visible on S.W. corner of 44th Street, will be demolished in 1919-20. About 1921 Charles a Co's building on S.E. corner of 43rd Street will give place to Prudence Building. Covered subway entrances will go later. Picture taken during street car strike of 1916.
