East Houston Street, north side, at the foot of Second Ave. (where bus is parked), as seen from the foot of Forsyth Street, looking north-westward. The clearance shown was created as a result of the demolition of houses which formerly stood there, to make way for the construction of the Independent System Subway (Eighth Ave. subway).
