Richmond: Hylan Boulevard - Satterlee Street
(1) Hylan Boulevard, north side, between Satterlee Street and Wards Point Avenue, showing the Billopp House, or "Conference House." In this house was held, on September 11, 1776, a conference between Benjamin Franklin, John Adams, and Edward Rutledge representing the Continental Congress and Admiral Lord Howe, commanding the British naval forces. The house derives its name from Christopher Billopp, who circumnavigated Staten Island in less than twenty-four hours and claimed it for New York State. About 1905 By Eugene G.
