Manhattan: York Avenue - 61st Street

York Avenue (name changed 1928 from Avenue A), east side, north from and including 61st Street. On the N.E. corner of 62nd Street is the pumping station of the Consolidated Gas Company, and behind it may be seen the old American Malting Company plant, on 64th Street east of the Avenue. It now belongs to George Ehret, and will be demolished three years from the time of this picture. Above 64th Street may be seen trees on the grounds of the Rockefeller Institute for Medical Research.
