Manhattan: 23rd Street - 5th Avenue

23rd Street east from between Sixth and Fifth Avenues. At the right foreground is Stern Brothers' Department Store, before it moved uptown to its 42nd Street location. At the left, on the N.W. corner of Fifth Avenue, is the famous Fifth Avenue Hotel, soon to give way to the Fifth Avenue Building. Beyond it may be seen very dimly the Metropolitan Life Insurance Building, and on the right, with the sign on its roof, the Bartholdi Building, formerly the Bartholdi Hotel. 1904. Brown Brothers.
