Manhattan: 4th Avenue - 21st Street (East)

Fourth Avenue, north from East 21st Street, showing prominently the west side of this thoroughfare. The important structures appearing are, the Bank for Savings (site under preparation in 1892); the Fourth Avenue Presbyterian Church; the Y. M. C. A.; the Academy of Design; Madison Square Garden and the Hotel Park Avenue. Across the top appears the Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. building (part under construction); the spire atop the old Madison Avenue Presbyterian Church; and the tower of the huge Madison Square Garden. On the right are architectural details of Calvary Church and its adjoining Church Mission House P. E. (site cleared in 1892). About 1895 Gift of Urbrock Collection
