Fourth Avenue, north from E. 9th Street as photographed from the traffic island at 8th Street. At the left is the north building of John Wanamaker's Department store. This occupies the 9th to 10th Street frontage. 14th Street is in the background where the perspective is lost because of the bend at Union Square. The Central Savings Bank building is at that point.
