Manhattan: Irving Place - 14th Street (East)

Irving Place, east side, north from but not including East 14th Street, showing the executive offices of the Consolidated Gas Company (originally Manhattan Gas Company) at 4 Irving Place on the S.E. corner of 15th Street, and the clearing from 16th to 17th Streets where the Washington Irving High School for Girls is about to be built, replacing old 36-50 Irving Place. The Consolidated Gas Company building shown here was built before 1867. Before 1916 it will be superseded by a 20-story building on this site, about the same time 30-24 Irving Place, the house shown here at and adjoining the S.W. corner of 16th Street, will be replaced by a 13-story loft building. On the S.E. corner of 18th Street may be seen the Huyler Chocolate and Cocoa Factory. March, 1909. Brown Brothers.
